Last Friday, I went to Googleplex and had lunch there for the first time, thanks to @kimbalina for taking me in. And Dave, if you're reading, I'm still sad that you didn't want to join us. sob sob.
I was there at building #41 for a Google Usability study. I frequently sign up for these as I see them posted on Craigslist or when they email me directly. But obviously I don't get selected all the time. I think this is the 3rd time I've been to Googleplex for these kinds of studies.
So anyways, the deal is that they'll pay you $75 for about an hour for giving feedback on some new product or new feature. Not a bad deal, huh? Except this dumb one here got a traffic ticket on the way there! Fortunately, that particular cop was pretty nice to me (no, I didn't use my charm) and only gave me a ticket for not stopping at red light before making a right instead of what he said could've been a run red light ticket, which is more expensive and a moving violation or something.
So here's the tally
Google T-shirt as part of the study: FREE
Google's 1-hour usability study: +$ 75
Traffic ticket on the way there: -$130
Google gourmet lunch: FREE
