Generation Gap?

I came across below ad recently. Not a WoW player myself, for that matter, not even any computer game player, but this sounds like a desperate plea from a parent who needs to read a WoW for Dummy book.

Good things we don't have kids, we would be as lost as this parent.

My son says he cannot just quit WoW when it's time; he says he has to "go to the inn" first. Sometimes that takes awhile. I wonder if this is true or if he's using my ignorance of the game to keep playing. I googled around and couldn't find an answer. Any WoW enthusiasts who can confirm? Thanks!
